Medical Narratives
This panel seeks to explore how medical narratives reflect or shape the rapidly changing and multiplying roles biomedicine plays in the construction of our humanity: in fiction and non-fiction, and in any form of media—written, visual, auditory, digital, and performance that deal with medical issues, disease and illness. How does medicine narrate and mediate the human experience? How do narratives inform experiences of illness and the alleviation of suffering, in addition to the role of biotechnology in our expectations of life in general?
